Since inception, in 1976, the Thomas Nygard Gallery has offered only the finest quality art of the American West. Specializing in the works of 19th and early 20th centuries of American art with an emphasis on historical art of the Northern Plains. The Gallery also offers paintings of the Taos Society of Artists, Rocky Mountain School, Hudson River and California Schools.

 

For close to four decades the Thomas Nygard Gallery has worked with a broad array of clients, from the private collector to estates, corporations and public institutions. The Gallery provides a full range of offerings including framing, conservation and restoration, appraisals, scholarship, curatorial management, packing and transport, photography, auction representation, acquisitions and sales.

 

Visitors commonly find examples by such noteworthy artists as Albert Bierstadt, Edward Borein, Henry Farny, Thomas Moran, Georgia O'Keeffe, Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell and Joseph H. Sharp. Also featured is the finest representatives of Sporting Art, the genre the Gallery was originally founded on and still maintains today.

 

In 2014 the Gallery relocated to a second level location in the heart of historic downtown Bozeman. The remodeled space occupies a structure erected in 1882 when the Northern Pacific Railroad arrived in the Gallatin Valley. Visitors find the space elegantly adorned and include the original brick walls and pine floors.

Thomas Nygard served as President of FADA for two years and was a member of the Board of Directors for 13 years. He currently serves on the executive committee of the Montana Historical Society.
